 Pat Peters, Packing across
Yosemite Bridge on the Pacific Crest
Trail
Pat will be sharing
unique anecdotes and stunning film from her 1700-mile Mexico to
Oregon solo packing trip on the Pacific Crest National Scenic
Trail.
Biography:
In the saddle since age
5, Pat left Chicago and the competitive show arena behind in
1991. Moving to Norco California, she was able to expand her
equine training and sales business while exploring the California
mountains and enjoying endurance racing. Norco natives
remember Pat as the 3-time trail master for the Norco Riverdance
Endurance Race, which hosted world-class competition in the
mid-90's.
As her passion for
equine trails advocacy grew, Pat played a key role in a successful
DC Congressional lobby effort to keep the Yosemite Valley horse
stables open and to keep horses on trails in Yosemite. She
then accepted a 4-year appointment as a Riverside County Parks
Commissioner, advocating for local trails. By the late 90's
Pat was actively packing, and guiding East Coast vacationers into
the high Sierras.
In 2002, Pat took time
off from her business and equine career to realize her dream of
solo-riding 1700 miles of the California Pacific Crest National
Scenic Trail, traversing the highest mountain ranges from Mexico to
Oregon. After 3 weeks of studying, planning and
shuttling supplies to various points, she embarked with 2 horses on
a rich and wonderfully spontaneous 6+ month leisurely
journey. Pat will be sharing unique anecdotes and
wonderful film from her adventure with us at Rendezvous.
